Leadership at Gospel Covenant Church
Church Leadership
The leadership of our church is founded on the biblical offices of elders and deacons, as established in Scripture. These offices exist to serve Christ and His Church through faithful oversight, teaching, service, and care for God’s people.
Session (Elders)
Elders are responsible for the spiritual oversight and governance of the church, giving attention to prayer, the ministry of the Word, doctrine, and pastoral care. Among the elders, Teaching Elders, whom we refer to as Ministers, are primarily entrusted with preaching and teaching, while Ruling Elders, referred to simply as Elders, share equally in leadership, accountability, and shepherding of the congregation. Together, the elders seek to lead the church in faithfulness to Scripture and in submission to the lordship of Christ.
Diaconate (Deacons)
Deacons are appointed to serve the practical and material needs of the church, enabling the elders to focus on spiritual oversight and teaching. Through acts of service, care, and stewardship, deacons model Christ-like humility and compassion, supporting the life and mission of the church and demonstrating the gospel through faithful service.
